A construction hoist, covered by EN12159 standards, is a vertical access device designed to safely transport personnel and cargo. These hoists are powered by reducers connected to motors with electromagnetic brakes, which are mounted on 1.50-meter-long masts equipped with rack gear systems.
Types and Applications of Construction Hoists
Construction hoists can be easily and securely installed either inside shafts or outside buildings, and they do not require a machine room, making them suitable for a wide range of industries.
Some common applications include:
- Underground and aboveground construction sites
- Mines
- Cement factories
- Chimneys
- Bridges and tunnels
- Chemical production facilities
- Grain storage facilities
- Metal and steel production plants

- Ships
- Ports and shipyards
In our country, construction hoists are frequently used in underground and aboveground construction work for the transportation of personnel and cargo, often referred to as “construction hoists” in the construction industry. Other common names for construction hoists include facade hoists, personnel and cargo hoists, construction cargo hoists, external facade hoists, and suspended platforms.
In industrial facilities, these hoists are often referred to as “industrial hoists” due to their long-term usage. Industrial hoists are designed with additional safety measures, in accordance with EN12159 standards and supplemented by EN 81 standards.
